Bookkeeper Team Leader
Position Purpose
The Bookkeeper Team Leader at Indevaldi is a vital role within our bookkeeping team, responsible for overseeing the efficient and accurate delivery of various bookkeeping services to our clients. This position plays a crucial part in managing and supporting the bookkeeping teams, ensuring the timely completion of work to meet client expectations and maintain high standards. The Bookkeeper Team Leader also plays a pivotal role in training and developing team members, fostering their professional growth and enhancing their expertise in the field of bookkeeping.
Position Summary
As the Bookkeeper Team Leader at Indevaldi, you hold a critical role in the management of our bookkeeper teams. Your primary responsibility is to oversee and ensure the efficient and timely delivery of work while upholding a high standard of quality. Additionally, you will play a key role in the development of team members and the implementation of quality assurance measures, processes, and systems. Creating a healthy, happy, and productive work environment for the teams is also a crucial aspect of your role.
Position Duties and Responsibilities
A description of the duties and responsibilities assigned to the position; also referred to as the essential functions:
- Provides effective management, leadership, and mentorship to the bookkeeping teams, fostering collaboration, professional growth, and a positive work culture.
- Oversees work delivery, ensuring timeliness and accuracy, implements quality assurance measures to maintain high standards, and continuously improves workflows and systems for optimal efficiency
- Identifies training needs, provides guidance and resources for skill enhancement, conducts evaluations and goal-setting, and fosters a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team.
- Cultivates a healthy work environment, prioritizing employee well-being and engagement through recognition, conflict resolution, and a harmonious atmosphere.
- Staying abreast of new regulations, laws, standards and notes with regards to accounting and tax related matters
- Plans for operational capacity and business continuity.

Position Supervisory Responsibilities
Type and scope of supervisory responsibility that is expected from this position:
- Provide overall direction to team and leadership
- Trains, provides work direction, and problem-solving assistance for the bookkeeping team.
- Overseeing the daily operations of the bookkeeping team.
- Supervision and management of the bookkeeping teams, including hiring, scheduling and assigning work, reviewing performance, and recommends salary increases, promotions, transfers, demotions, or terminations.

Qualifications:
- Matric with mid to high grades in mathematics and accounting.
- BAcc or equivalent degree or studying towards such a degree
Experience:
- At least one to two years recent overseeing and managing staff in an bookkeeping practice environment.
- At least three-year recent bookkeeping experience in an accounting practice environment
Software:
- Office product suite.
- Accounting Software – Xero.
- Financial Statement Software – Draftworx
- Document Management Software – Dext, other platforms.
- Practice Management Software.
- SARS systems.
- Payroll software – SimplePay.
